Brazil Outlasts Mexico to Claim Spot in CONCACAF W Gold Cup Final

Brazil Downs Short-Handed Mexico

Hosts Reach Semifinals with Dominant Performance

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Brazil punched their ticket to the final of the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup with a 5-2 victory over Mexico in the semifinals on Friday evening. The hosts overcame a resilient Mexican side despite playing with 10 players for much of the second half.

Adriana Leal and Antonia set the tone for Brazil with first-half goals, while Rachel Santos, Kerolin Nicoli, and Geyse added second-half finishes to secure the victory. Mexico's goals came from Maria Sanchez and Kiana Palacios, but it wasn't enough to overcome Brazil's offensive firepower.

The match was marred by a controversial red card to Mexico's Rebeca Bernal in the 52nd minute. The decision left the visitors short-handed for the remainder of the game, making Brazil's dominance even more impressive.

In the final, Brazil will face the winner of the other semifinal between the United States and Costa Rica. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, July 9.
