Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday evening. The match witnessed an unprecedented display of batting power, resulting in the highest IPL total and match aggregate in history.
SRH openers Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma laid a solid foundation, scoring a 100-run partnership. Captain Kane Williamson chipped in with a crucial half-century, while Aiden Markram's late-innings fireworks propelled SRH to a mammoth total of 235/5.
RCB responded with characteristic aggression. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar got off to a flying start, but it was Virat Kohli's blistering 82 that kept their hopes alive. However, SRH's bowlers managed to restrict RCB to 200/8, securing a 35-run victory.
The match also saw several milestones being achieved. Virat Kohli became the first batter to score 7,000 runs in the IPL, while Kane Williamson completed 5,000 career runs in T20 cricket.
With this victory, SRH moved up to third place in the IPL 2024 points table, while RCB remained in sixth position. The two teams will meet again in the second leg of the season, with the match scheduled to be played on May 15 in Bangalore.
